The town of Gilbert will be witnessing a unique Shred-a-thon. Gilbert Arizona news reports that this event will be part of the spring cleaning drive for people where they can safely and easily shred their old documents without worrying about identity theft.
The Gilbert Shred-a-Thon is being organized by the department of police and the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce. They will also host a business fair where business owners can meet and interact with each other. The police have teamed up with SHRED-IT to safely destroy all the sensitive documents that may result in serious consequences later on.
Most of the people keep documents at the wrong places and forget about them. Some other people wish to do some spring cleaning in their houses and want to clean their house and get rid of the paper clutter to get some space in the house. However, during this process, the important documents may get misplaced and the residents may have to face frauds and forgeries in their bank accounts or other places. This is what is generally referred to as identity theft, where the thief doesn’t steal goods, but your proofs of identity and use them to drain your financially or otherwise. The individuals and business owners can find the shredding trucks in the parking lots that will be accompanied by the patrolling team. There is a small participation fee in this fair which will go as a monetary donation towards the Special Olympics to be held in Arizona, as reported by Gilbert AZ news.
The first box of 10 inch x 12 inch x 15 inches will be available for free. If you want more boxes, you can get them at a small sum of $5 per box.
